MODULE 1: DATA

LESSON 1: SPREADSHEETS

Lesson 1 introduces students to spreadsheets with a focus on mathematical calculations and relating numbers in calculations. It uses Google Sheets as the spreadsheet application and uses tutorials, both written and video, to have students build spreadsheets for grading a class, and for a small business. LESSON 2: DATA VISUALIZATION

This lesson addresses the analysis of data using spreadsheets and visualizations. The assignment first shows visualizations of data and has the student comment on the effectiveness of each visualization based on the Data Visualization reading. The students download a large data set of movie rating data, open it in Google Sheets, and learn to create bar, line, and scatter charts, as well as use these charts to do analysis. LESSON 3: DATA PROCESSING AND ANALYSIS

In Lesson 3, students learn to sort, filter, categorize, and clean data. Then the student learns to generate summary tables, such as pivot tables, from the data. Learning Materials:
